Default Mossberg 500 Slug Barrel

I am new to slug hunting (basically all I have ever used is a single shot smoothbore), but I recently purchased a Mossberg 500 shotgun. I have been looking for a fully rifled ported 12ga slug barrel.

I found a 12ga rifled slug barrel with a cantilever scope mounton Auction Arms, and the price is $100.00 which seems low to me. The seller states the barrel has only been shot 5 times and the bluing looks great. I don't really know if this is a good deal or not?...

Being new to this - would you buy a used rifled slug barrel? It looks like a great deal, but as I said I am not familiar with slug guns and I am required by law to use one where I live.

Any input would be great.

These scoped barrel combos usually sell for between $150 - $200 depending on where you shop. Doesnt sound like to bad of a deal. I would however replace the scope, as it is not the highest of quality.

Thanks for the info. This is not a combo deal. I already have a mossberg 500, and I just need the slug barrel. This barrel does not have a scope on it, just the rail. I guess for $100 dollars I will bid on the auction. It closes tomorrow, so if it saves me 40-60 dollars then it must be a good deal...

My dad has that combination. It shoots the Hornady SST's very well. His only complaint is that the rifled slug barrel makes the gun very heavy.

I on the other hand continue to shoot a 12g winchester smooth bore with the Foster slugs. Plenty accurate out to 75 yards, which is about the max range I could shoot at in the areas I hunt at. The big difference is that a box of Foster slugs runs about $2.50 and the Hornady SST's that the Mossbergis in the $22.50 range for five slugs.
