RE: Cabela' s Alaskan Guide scopes

Cheap? I' ll show you cheap! Simmons makes the 44 mag line and they are $150 -$300 or so. They used to make a 2-7X44 model and a buddy of mine with an FFL could sell me one with tax and everything for $72. I bought three of them. No problems with any of them. I' m sure they are not nearly as bright and nice as some of the best scopes, but I can see fine with them, actually very well and they hold zero great and adjustments are consistent. I was going to buy another one recently for a new gun but the cheapest model in that line is now about $150..Let me also say that where I hunt 100 yards is a very long shot. I have never killed a deer over 100 yards because there isn' t more than 150 yards of open space anywhere and most shots are 50 yards or less. If I was going to shoot 200-250 and all that I would invest more. But these have held up great with no problems in three years. Lifetime warranty too. Guess they lost money on the 2-7 model and stopped making it.
