BTrack-I have killed several game animals at over 400 yards with ten power and had no problems.I practise out to 500 yards at the local range again with no need for more power.Just how far do you intend on shooting?

My gun wasn' t bought to be a hunting gun as I believe the weight of the Sendero would be uncomfortable for me in the woods. This gun was bought as a shooter to play with but I did use it while hunting a clover field last year. I wanted to see how the Hornady SSTs did and all I can say is that there is still some of the meat in the freezer. The Elite 4200 is a keeper.

Stubblejumper - well initially for target only to 500 but if im going to make a 400 yard shot if I had to I too would practice to 5 or 6 alot. I do some long range (for me) target at 500 today with my 300wm with a 10 on it and it works fine - just didn' t know if the higher power scope would buy me more. Eventially if it works out and I get confident with it - then I' ll take it out on hunts potentially insted of my sako. But for game out to 400 or so - wondered if you have had any luck and with what for bullets? More sec density for the elk -then deer probably doesn' t matter that much. And what' been the most accurate. I' m sure to buy a few and see what it likes to eat but at 35 a box I' d like to narrow the playing field. On the scope I' m still leaning to the VXIII 3.5x10 but might try a couple. I have a 4.5x14 I think I can try on it too.

Btrack-Although this may surprise many I have used the 180gr ballistic tip to kill four elk and two bull moose(one over 1200lbs).I only recovered one bullet and that one passed through the chest and offside shoulder before stopping against the hide. All the other bullets exited and all were one shot kills.Shots ranged from 80 yards to 377 yards.I am using reloader 25 and the actual muzzle velocity is 3375fps.Accuracy averages 1/2 inch at 100yards for 3 shot groups. My rifles are customs built on 700 actions with 26" pac-nor barrels.
