Rifle Looney help me try and follow the premise of this post. You make an anti Savagechallenge

Wondering where the "outta the box boys" are......
and then you post a group from a Remington that apparently is not an out of the box rifle. Is that correct or am I missing something?

I'm going to guess that whether you admit to it or not, you both got these groups shooting from a lead sled and you probably let the barrel cool 3 to 4 minutes in between shots. I'm going to call you out on this, you are not being true to the Corps! [8D]

Big deal, I can cover my groups with a quarter and I am shooting a Ruger M77 MKII that is not free floated, nor bedded, and has a heavy trigger. Shooting from sandbags without supporting the butt of my rifle on any platform except for the pocket of my shoulder none the less!

No, the out of the box rule only applies to challengers, Loony can use customized benchrest rifles :D

I keep a Savage in my boat in case I lose my other paddle. :)

Dozen - Ijust want to inform you but I don't have a lead sled, nor will I ever have one. Not because I am 'macho' but because I do not have a need for one. I do believe that they may serve a purpose for some shooters. Just not this one. And my groups were shot off a bench and sand bags with no more than a minute between shots. And I can probably say the same for RL too as far as the lead sled goes. Yes I shoot of a bench and sand bags when I am testing loads, sighting in scopes etc. But I do a lot of practicing from the basic 4 positions (prone, sitting, kneeling and off hand), in addition to using shooting sticks.
But his post isn't about shooting style its about "Out of the Box" accuracy. But some folks don't play by the rules.

Yeah so what. You missed the target!

Tom

LOL I was thinking the same thing :D:D:D

....neither a Savage or Remington.... I cheated and used a bone stock Cooper M22 in 6.5x284 to fire this 5 shot group @ 100yds. The inside of the bull is .375" , never measured the group it but it's good enough[8D]
