My dealer friend told me yesterday that they will end hand gun registration in Michigan sometime in January or February of 2009. I registered a Kel Tec today and asked the clerk and she indicated that yes it will end around that time frame.

Does anyone know the exact date?

That will be a good day for all of us even if you don't live in Michigan.

A bill was passed to eliminate the "safety inspection" by your local PD. You now have to mail a copy of your receipt to them. You still have to get your purchase permit before buying.

I have a CCW so no need for the permit. I guess it was too good to be true.

Fantastic - hope other states follow suit. I bet Ted Nugent is thrilled to death. I wish more of us had his enthusiasm in backing the second amend.
