Favorite Gun
What is your favorite gun that you own and why.
Mine is my Marlin 1895 M 450. I love this gun because it is so compact and light and easy to carry in the big woods that I hunt. Not to mention that this big little gun is a tack driver. I can clover leaf 3 bullets at 100 yrds every time that I go to the range. It does a heck of a job in the field too. This thing spits out a 325 grain Hornady Leverevolution bulet at 2250 FPS: so you know when you pull the trigger, but it isn't as bad as it may sound. The porting certainly helps. Works great where I hunt. |
RE: Favorite Gun
I think my SS savage 116(30.06)- light, easy to carry&to care for synthetic stock - i dont have to worry about scratching & dingingany wood up . It aLSOshoots great & onLY cost $250. Also the Ruger gp 100-.357- same reasons.

My favorite is the one that I'm building at the time.......

RE: Favorite Gun
It's a toss up between my 7mm.Rem.Mag Vanguard and the Marlin 925R .22 I just picked up for an incredible deal! They are both amazing for their price. Super crisp triggers, very accurate and as Knightia said, the synthetic stocks are nice for the no worries factor.

RE: Favorite Gun
One? Tough question...overall, I'd say my Ruger #1 in .405 Winchester. Haven't even chambered a cartridge in it but to me it's a perfect example of a classic, and classy, rifle in a classic chambering. Quite capable of any game (as demonstarted by T.R.).

RE: Favorite Gun
A couple of years ago I had 40+ and now 25 and I really favor the Ruger 6.5mmSwede for my go to rifle...
|
RE: Favorite Gun
Probably my Marlin 45-70, with theSavage 300 win mag right on its heels.
|
RE: Favorite Gun
My current favorite is my Rem 700 SS Mtn rifle. It only weights 6.5lbs and is extremely accurate.
|
RE: Favorite Gun
It's funny...but mine is probably the least expensive gun I own. I'd have to say my S&W 22A semi auto pistol. It has a 4X scope on it and it's a blast for squirrels when I'm bowhunting...

RE: Favorite Gun
I'm most proud of the Enfield Eddystone in .30-06 that my great grandpappy passed down to me years ago...from WWII. My favorite gun to shoot is a toss up between my Franchi Renaissance O/U in 12/28 and my 7mm-08 Remington.

RE: Favorite Gun
I love all my guns and have confidence in every one.
My H&R Ultra Slug 12 Gauge is my favorite. It just never misses deer. L8Ker...I'm packing for Gaylord. Sal and I are going riding on some trail heads...be back early Monday...lets hit the range again....soon! Is it true....am I missing something? I saw (In my guns and ammo mag.) a 44 mag. Hornady 225 grain bullet that runs 1850fps? WOW!! Not sure if it was the leverlution...it had the red teflon tip. |
RE: Favorite Gun
Model 70 Winchester .270 My dad gave it to me when he turn 81 years old. it still looks new and a tack driver. I plan on handing it down to my 3 year old when hes ready.

Brian-
THe Leverevolution is at 1425 for 44 mag. if I remember. |
RE: Favorite Gun
My favorite is my old Marlin .30-30 rifle. There is just something about rifle. Sure, there are hundreds of other rifles that can outperform it. But it just has some strange kind of historical vibe to it when you pick it up. It's classic and just feels right when you shoulder it. I can literally shut my eyes... shoulder the old .30-30... open my eyes... and I'm always looking straight down the iron sights, every time. I can't bring myself to slap a scope on it. I keep it traditional for close in work in the heavy brush. For longer distances, I use my 10 year old Savage 110 in .308 w/scope.

My favorite is my Rem 7600 in 7mm-08. It's a tack driver, a pleasure to shoot and deadly on whitetails.
