What is your guys opinions on muzzlebrakes I read a artical in Field&Stream that might change your mind.

How can that be if you don't yet know my opinion ??

And btw..... a field and stream article will not influence my 30 + years of experience EVER !!

I'm sure not a fan of muzzle brakes on just any gun, but on the right gun, I'm fine with them. I have 10 hunting rifles, and only one has a brake on it. I would sure like to read the article. Could you post a link?

There are ups and downs to muzzle breaks...some people like em some hate em. I like them on the right rifle.

F & S and Outdoor Life were good hunting and fishing magazines, I remember reading them when dad used to take all 3 boys to get a haircut at the local barber shop, unfortunately this was over 40 years ago...Sometimes between 1980 and 2000 or so, they forgot who was buying and reading their magazines...

My opinion on muzzlebrakes...If you need one, you are shooting too much gun...

And either you don't mind wearing hearing protection while hunting,or you don't care about your hearing.

Or you like to see your hits and wear hearing protection...

muzzlebrakes do make the report seem much louder. They do however reduce recoil. I purchased a Savage youth model for my grandson in 7-08 and it has an adjustable muzzlebrake. Shooting off the bench, for practice, the ports are in the open position. They are closed for hunting. There is no difference in POI with the MB open or closed.

I agree with NC.... If you need a brake on a hunting rifle then you need a cartridge that kicks less.
