I was wondering if anyone knows if there' s a fine walnut 223 auto that looks like a regular deer rifle and not a paramilitary or mini14 style. Seems to me it would be a big seller for those of us not into the " black" guns. I used to own a AR-15 so please don' t think I' m bashing those guns at all. I' d just rather have something more admirable in wood.

HK also has one that' s supposed to be fairly accurate for a semi.

How much are you wanting to spend? Sako has their model 75 in .223 but it is an expensive gun. Savage, Tikka, Thompson/Center, Rossi, Remington, and many others make the rifle your looking for. Try buying a shooter' s bible or any good firearm book to help you narrow down your search.

gentlemen, the request was for a " auto" and I' m assuming that he meant self loading or semi auto.....I too would like a fine .223 that looks like a sporting gun and yes, something like the old Winchester 100...please reconsider your posts.

i just checked on both......the BAR is still being made and both do come in wood and look great...but 243 or bigger.....i tried.....thats all i can think of guys....i cant think of any other guns that arent military that are semi and in 223.....you can probally have a fine walnut stock made for a military firearm and have it deeply blued and all prettied up for you and have a pretty sweet looking rifle.....
