RE: AR for hunting.

I would love to have an AR10 instead of my AR15.

Use the AR. There's nothing wrong with it. You know that it can take a deer down so why not?

I am 17 right now and the only suitable deer rifle i have is my SKS. I have outfitted it with a mag plus so it will hold onlythe legal amount of cartridges and a 6x32 compact scope. It's actually perfect for where I hunt. semi-auto for runners, scope for longer shots,see-thru scope mountfor quick aquisition/close range. 7.62=30cal which most old-timers will agree is great for hunting deer (30-30, 30-06)

one guy cracked a joke about it once probably thinking it was a AK47 varient. "hey! leave some trees up for the rest of us will ya?" I wasn't shooting or anything, i was just at the rear of the truck with my dad putting some rounds in the magazine. He can think what he wants. He was using the same thing as everyone else 30-30win lever action and I respect that. I don't have anything against them, I just got a good deal on a military-style rifle so i grabbed it.

nice one i had a guy one time ask me if i saw a deer did i just unload the gun on him..
I said no one round for the deer 9 for any tresspassers i saw on my property
LOL. I'm not going to use mine even though it has a 1:6.5 twist and can handle bullets up to 90 gr.

Easily accurate enough to punch through the vitals at 600 yards- tresspassers and poachers ever further, but it weighs 13 lbs.

This little bugger though will be built into a carbine in either 6.8 spc or 6.5 grendel for hunting purposes:

6.5 grendal would be really nice! I almost built one and wish I had...

what worries me about a odd size round is cost of ammo and availability of ammo

As long as odd sized dies and odd sized brass are available, its not a problem:D

If it's legal...it's legal. So it ain't his cup of tea. He ain't gotta use it. This is like the anti-gunners: they don't want one (because they're sissies and cowards), so they don't want you to have one, either.

I'm kind of torn between the 458 Socom and 450 Bushmaster. Both of these have plenty of power for hunting just about any big game in North America as long as you stay within their respective range. I haven't done the research yet, but the 450 BM is supposed to be somewhere on the lines of a 45-70. Biggest problem being that they only have one factory loading for it. The 458 has several more and you can get up to a 600gr traveling somewhere around 1200-1300 fps. BTW both of these are on the AR-15 platform.

I also like the .50 cal conversion. You can disable an engine block with one at 100yds. Sounds neat. Maybe shoot a moose or a giraffe or somin with it
