I like semi-autos, but the idea of not having to cock a semi auto.....also not having to have one in the pipe case accidental discharge, makes me lean towards revolver, least those are the main advantages I see.

RE: Concealed Weapon-Revolver Or Semi
I was at the range about a year ago with a friend of mine and we were having the same discussion. "My Kimber never jams". Well, except for the 2 jams he had that day. A few weeks later he stopped by and showed me the S & W 38 that he bought to carry. My vote went for the revolver.

Are you saying that one should not carry a semi auto with a round in the chamber to avoid an AD? If so, then I have to disagree with you. I have always been taught that if you do not want a gun to fire, then you simply do not pull the trigger. |

I've been carrying my 38 here lately, but when I do carry my 9mm, it's 16 in the clip and one in the chamber. My S&W doesn't even have a safety, and that's what I really like about it. The only safety istaking it out of the holster and pulling the trigger! |
RE: Concealed Weapon-Revolver Or Semi
I'll have to disagree also. There's nothing wrong in keeping a round chambered if you practice safe gun handling. My carry semi autosare ready to rock-n-roll 24/7.A revolver is better for the inexperienced. No matter what type of gun you carry it's your responsibilty to practice safe gunhandling. The time it takes to chamber a round could be the difference between life and death.

RE: Concealed Weapon-Revolver Or Semi
Off-duty, I normally carry a Glock 23 (40) and sometimes a glock 27 or Walther PPK if I need more concealment.
Any pistol (revolver or semi) can potentially jam but if you keep your pistol clean, lubricated and loaded with factory ammo, your chances of jamming are very minimal. Anybody carrying a pistol for defense, should practice malfunction clearance procedures so they are prepared in case a pistol does jam. |

Being from Illinois and havingour wonderful politicians"having my back" and protecting me from the bad guys
.......we're not allowed to carry. But if I was able I'd carry my H&K USP40![]() |
