My brother is on a search for a new rifle but has no clue on what caliber to pick, Some people have told him 30/06 i would have to agree on that but if u shoot a antelope at 200-300 yards with an 06 it will blow them to nothing kind of like shooting a squirrel with a 270,
..[8D], He also was looking at a 270 WSM, He already has a 308 Win, But wants somthing with some more juice then that, Any Suggestions, Thanxs

The 30-06 will be a good choice actually. He just doens't need to use the same load and bullet for antelope that he uses for elk. He can get a 150 gr. bullet for antelope and deer then 180s for the bigger stuff. If he can get handloads he can even get 130 grain bullets.

I would say anything in the 270 - 30-06 range would be good. The critical factor for heavier game like moose is bullet selection and shot placement/selection. I have 2 friends that use the '06 for everything. I tease them a lot but its all in fun. They always seem to get the job done. One recently took a 450 lb grizzly at 200 yds with one 180 gr bullet.

.270, .280, or 30-06would all be excelent choices.

He already has a good one for what he wants but he wants something a little bigger a 30-06 is a good choice since you can shoot a little heavier bullet.

I'd probably go with 7mm or300 Remington Ultra Mag. Remington now makes power level ammunition that loads 3 different power levels in one caliber. It's an idea if you don't reload. http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/centerfire/power_level.asp Of course I would shoot all 3 to make sure they shoot as advertised.
