243 is fine for deer, my daughter took her first deer last year with my wife's 243....Good little round

The .243 win. is a great deer round. The 770 though is questionable.

Must agree withRuger .The .243 is hard to beat at just about anything. The 770 I Don't know.

I'd avoid the 770, its pretty much a 710 in disguise....The 243 is a great deer round.

Any deer, anywhere, the .243/6MM is an excellent minimum caliber!

The 243 is a great round that will do the job on deer. The 770 is the revised 710. I'd stay away from it.

I agree on both things. As a back up to a backup the 770 mght be considered but otherwise... If you're serious about buying a decent rifle don't bother with the 770 (or 710). I know, I know...it's affordable. Well, you get what you pay for is verrry true in thiscase. Maybe look at the Savage line.
