Remington has made the same mistake that they did the last time with the 350. They are chambering a very good round in a light weight rifle with a short ventilated barrel. The 673 action is based on the Model 7 which is alot better than the old action that is found on the Model 600 and 660' s. Although I prefer a 338-06 to a 350, I wouldn' t want either in a carbine type rifle. If Remington would only get rid of the iron sights, barrel rib and extend the barrel lenght another couple of inches I would buy one.

Well, I' ve never fired a 350 round, but I have a 35 whelen in the 7600 pump action which has done me well. I imagine they would be very similar. You know, I have to agree with the previous post about the 673 being a bit to small.... OUCH!! I' d love to see Remington put it in the 700 or even 7600. The Whelen that I have is really fun to shoot.... you can tell it has some recoil, but it' s not all that bad.

The rifle is ugly. The cartridge, however, is absolutely perfect for elk in thick timber or as something a little extra if you happen to hunt in bear country.

Boys, are we buying a short to mid range stomper? or dating supermodels? Just kidding, I don' t really need one, but they are interesting.
Back when I was a kid, we used to go to Hilkemeyer' s General Store in Freeburg MO. Man what a boy' s toy box that was. Anyway, these guys had moose racks tacked up everywhere. I remember the old man talking about his .350 back then and the way it dropped them moose.
Brings back fond memories.
