Default which one??

narrowed the .22 wmr choice down to these two. which one would you go with? this is going to be used mostly for squirrles and rabbits, so accuracy is pretty important!

The remington is a nicer looking rifle, but I would personally look at the savages as well. I would also consider a 17HMR as well, especially now that they have the heavier ammo out now. I had a savage in 17HMR and loved it. And mine didn't even have the Accutrigger the new ones have.

i did look at the savage, ruger, cz, amoung others....it's down to these two guns listed above, they're only $30 difference in price, so it's a tough call. the rugers and whatnot are all too much $money$

At this point in my shooting career, I have no need/use for a rimfire whatsoever. I can load my little Daniel Frasier .22 Hornet single-shot to whatever rimfire duplication I want. I use a Lyman 225415 45-grain bullet with 4 grains of Unique for a 1400-FPS load that is extremely accurate and deadly on varmints up to 35-40 pounds. Anything larger, I use a jacketed 45-grainer at 2500 FPS from the same rifle...... I have absolutely no use at all for anything you can't load ammo for!

I bought the 982 about 2 months ago. It is a sweet lil shooter. So far it has shot everything I've put thru real well. I haven't actually gotten a chance to shoot groups with it, but I can kill cottontails/jackrabbits out to 175 yards with it pretty easily. The trigger does need a lil tweaking for my liking, other than that I have nothing bad to say about the Marlin.

But, can you load 50 of them for one dollar??? Also in some places you can use a rim fire to hunt small game with, but a CF isn't legal touse...

I really like rimfires, and the best part is, i don't have to reload them... lol I guess all those ammo mfg. years got that out of my system...

Where can you buy 50 WMR cartridges for $1.00. I need to pick up a couple of hundred boxes at that price. Tom.

Maybe at a garage sale??? lol lol

I obviously was refering to long rifles, as ELD used the term "rimfire" not WMR.... Anyway, i did see some WMR's at 5 something a box though...

If that marlin is as much as the remington someone is getting ripped off. You should be able to get a marlin or a savage for around 200 bucks or so, and the savage will come with the accutrigger. You can get a bit nicer one if you wanted to spend more money, and they offer more choices in the 17HMR line up.

If it's between those two guns for the same money it isn't even a question, get the remington. It's a much nicer rifle all the way around. Like I said your either getting one heck of a deal on the remington or getting screwed on the marlin.
