Welcome aboard Bigleague.... The 270 or 7mm Rem. Mag are both good calibers and as for the scope, I would have to agree with the others and go with a good quality scope such as Bushnell, Leupold or Zeiss. GOOD LUCK.

Wow,,,,, thanks for the response. I t seams that most are up for the 7mm mag, is that the same round as what i shot before my buddy said it was a 7mm. So the savage, winchester, or the remmington would work.

as far as a scope. leupold variX III 3.5x10 40mm would work for me?

There are several 7mm' s, but if it was a 7 mm Rem Mag then yes. I think you' d be very pleased with both the 7 mm Rem Mag and the leupold Varix III. I own both and can' t say a bad thing about either. However if your looking at the Varix III you may want to check out the Zeiss Conquest for comparision. It seems it is a bit cheaper or equal. It has recvd. many a good review here and elsewhere. (very good glass, that appears to be clearer and brighter than the loopy)
