RE: Which of these singleshots appeal
I have experience on only two from the list and my choice would Ruger over TC. I didn’t like shooting the TC at the range. I found to be a pain always having reset the rifle after ever shot. I didn’t like having to use the hammer spur on the TC being careful it didn’t slip for the rifle to go off. The Ruger just felt more like a traditional rifle. Just my 2¢...

Take a look at the Dakota Model 10 at www.dakotaarms.com . They are beautifull and very accurate, but you pay for them. I would like to have one built in .30-378 Wby. Mag. with a 28" barrel. Good luck.

I voted for the Ruger #1 as well. I don't own one myself, but I have alot of range time with them. My cousin was in a bad car accident a few years back, and damaged a bunch of vertebrates, and he can't shoot anything bigger than a 243 anymore. He just happens to have a Pristine, 1976 model #1 in 45/70. He also happened to have alot of very powerful handloads worked up. Every year when he comes out to visit, he brings it along and I let it go bang till my shoulder says I've had enough. It shoots very well, I might add.
One of my pheasant hunting clients, who frequents Africa once a year, shoots a Ruger #1 Stainless Laminate in 375. He has had 0 complaints and harvested many head of plains game and dangerous game with that rifle.
I've had a TC Encore with a rifle barrel, and I abosolutely didn't like it.

The dakota all the way. The most elegant rifle I have ever held and deadly as a leopard. The highest level of craftsmanship in my opinoin. I lust for a 10 in 280AI for sheep hunting.

This was a tough choice...I like the options of the Encore, and the beauty and strength of the high wall and #1. But I guess if I honestly got one of these it would probably be the encore.
