Default Ruger....Model 10/22..Any comments?

I bought a Ruger Model 10/22 from my buddy yesterday for $150. It has a Tasco 3X9 scope on it, but I don' t remeber the name or model of the scope. Was this a good buy? Anyone have the gun? Thanks for the info.

Stump - They are very fine semi action 22' s. I have one in original condition that is over 15 years old. Yet to experience any problem.

I picked up another one in ' 97 because there were some custom stocks and heavy barrels on clearance and/or closeout and wanted to build one a little different. The setup I put together is amazing. Both in looks and most importantly, performance.

I don' t know a whole lot about these guns, but I' m pretty sure that it doesn' t have a " big" barrel on it. It does have a stainless steel barell on it though. The scope isn' t anything top notch, but I believe all I' d ever want to put on a .22. I took it out yesterday and it has pretty good optics. I went out yesterday hunting for sheds and doing a little deer scouting and nothing was around for me to play a little. Funny how when your out deer hunting there are tons of crows and coon around, but when you want to shoot em....they are gone.

I have one myself with a heavy target barrel and find it accurate and extremely reliable.

Sounds like a fair price for a stainless 10/22. One thing as mentioned if there is anything you find you don' t like about the gun it can be easily changed with all the after market parts out there.

that' s a decent price. they are retailing new (w/o scope) for about $150 +
i bought one (good condition) about 5 years ago with tasco 3-9 scope at gun show for $125 and that was a big steal
i dont get to shoot it much, but when i do it is a real tack driver (and i no great shot)
i have a 25 & 30 round mag for it, which makes for some fun rapid shhoting (i can put 30 round, rapid fire, in a 3" group)
i also got an after market mag release that works well

Ive only seen one wiht a stainless barrel that had a wood stock at wal-mart and you got a good deal. the sythetic stainless hre is 199$ before tax. mine has never jammed except wiht cheap remington or federal ammo, dont remember wich it was but it loves the cci mini mags i feed it.

I bought the plain jane model from walmart about 6 months ago for $159. I also bought a Tasco 3x9 at the same time for $29. Do yourself a favor and get the trigger kit. A complete kit costs around $50, it' s a snap to install, and it' ll make your gun shoot much better. I' ve also added a Buttler Creek barrel and a super sharp Fajen thumbhole stock. I finished the stock myself. It looks and shoots great.

You got a good deal on that one! I have a normal blued finish that shoots fine, never any probs, even with cheap Rem bucket of bullets. A few years ago I bought the new 10/22 from with the Hammer Forged Heavy Bbl Stainless. You want to talk about a tack driver! At 100m I shot five shots within a nickel with Rem bucket of bulets baby, awesome. I love ' em.
