Yeah, I would skip over the package deal as well. The scope that comes with the package, as well as the mounts/rings, might not handle the 300mag before too long before it all lets loose.

I picked up a Savage package deal in 270 wsm a few years back. I had no intentions of buying a package deal but it was $20 bucks cheaper due to a sale that was going on. The bases and rings were made of aluminum and I have no doubt that there would have been problems had I not immediately replaced them. I put the scope on a .22 and threw the rest in the garbage.

Another option would be the Savage gun only. Then supply your own bases/rings/scope. I would do that over the Vanguard myself.
The rifles you have listed I'd go in this order if it was me.
Browning A-Bolt
Tikka
Savage

The Browning would be a fantastic rifle for you. My buddy had a Browning Hunter (wood stocked 300wsm) that shot really good. He end up trading it for a Tikka. Only reason he traded was he won the Browning, and wanted a gun with a synthetic stock, and thats all the local gunshop had in 300wsm at the time.
My brothers fiance (5'2" 100lbs from California), actually has no problem what-so-ever shooting my 7mm Rem Mag Browning. I'd call the recoil on it almost non-existent, it does have muzzle flip, but thats about it.
