Cheap / Expensive Rifles?
 

Where is the line in the sand between cheap/moderately priced rifles?

How about moderate / expensive?

under $700 cheap?
over $1500 expensive?

Is this all discretion/personal choice or is it more accepted generally where the price ranges fall?

I think you can get inexpensive rifles cheaper than $700. Good ones.

I would say anything under $500 is cheap for centerfire rifles,less than $1,000 for regular "standard" factory rifles,and much over that will get you a really nice rifle-for a factory rifle.

Depends on what your looking for. I would say 5 to 7 hundred is average right now. However you can get some really great deals for $300 or so in the Mossberg, savage and stevens models. And you can get a Howa with a hogue stock for between 4 and 5 hundred dollars.

I honestly think much over 700 bucks and your paying for a name or custom upgrades.

Depends on who you talk to,gun snops will say anything less than a $1000.00 is cheap,but on lower budget $700.00 would be expensive.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There are plenty of guns that shoot straight for cheap money.
BUT - Do you like the way they look or sound. (Sound meaning your buddies ridiculing you)

I only paid $400 for my REM 700 300 saum BDL NIB. Bought it less than a year ago.

Welp, don't get sucked up into all of the hype unless you are going to do some serious hunting like the "pros" do on those hunting shows. If you only hunt one week a year like I do then Remington SPS, Tikka T3 Lite, or a cheap but amazingly accurate Savage will do.

I own a Ruger M77 7mag and it sure is a nice looking rifle and well built but it needs some work done to it to make it as accurate as it should be for a 7 Mag. If I could do it all over again (and hope you ain't saying the same thing a few years down the road) then I would've gotten the Tikka T3 Lite.

Forgot to say this as well. It depends on YOUR budget and not what anyone else or their ego SAYS.

M77 man,what all needs to be done? Bedding? hand lapping? Trigger? I'm pretty sure I could walk you thru whatever needs to be done if you want. Neil
