I couldn't find a load listing in any of my loading books for anything bigger than a 175 gr ball.

I have had two model sevens in 7mm-08 and found that 140's worked well in them for all game hunted.I used 140 gr ballistic tips for deer and 140 gr partitions to kill moose and bear.Penetration with the 140 gr partitions was not a problem on moose or bear.I sold one of the guns to a friend who tried loading heavy bullets but found that because of the short action he had to load them too short and they took up so much room in the case that velocities really suffered.

noooooo you guys I have a book and the biggest I think is made by federal and its only 150 grain I looked into it. For the mag ya they got 175s but not for the little guy.

When I said 175 gr I was not talking about commercially loaded ammo. I don't know if anybody loads it commercially in a 175 gr, but EVERY loading book I have looked through (7 of them) lists HANDLOADS that can push a 175 grain ball.

You can load any 7mm bullet you want. My Speer books lists 115 grain all the way up to a 175 grain. Now whether the rifle will shoot them accurately may be a different story. You just have to play around and find a load your rifle likes. If you have to shoot heavier 7mm bullets, you might be better off with the 7mm Rem Mag. (Never thought I would say that)

For factory made ammo it's federals with 150 gr Sierra Pro Hunters. By the way that 140 BT is devestating on whitetails.
