Anyone out there know the ballistic comparison of a 12ga. slug gun compared to a lever action 30-30 using 150 gr. bullets?

Ok, the 12ga will be apples at 100yrds, and the .30-30 will be oranges.

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!

Seriously though, the .30-30 will have better trajectory, and better energy retention downrange. Up close the slugs gonna hit a lot harder than that .30-30, but it's going to slow down MUCH faster, and it won't be nearly as accurate in most cases at 100yrds. That's about as much as anyone can help you...like I said, apples and oranges.

Nomercy is talking about 12 Ga. Foster-type slugs, not about the new Partition-jacket sabot types shot from a erifled barrel. These are about as accurate as most lever-action .30-30's, and their trajectories are also comparable. These new slugs perform about like the .45/70 firing a 300-grain bullet at 1800 FPS MV. I'll bet they kill as well as any .30-30, although I have NOT shot a deer with them. During regular gun season, I shoot a .50 cal. round ball from a 1/72" twist 32" barrel with 120 grains of FFg!!

Keep yore powder dry!!
