I think Taurus has come a long way since they first came out, but I would go with a Ruger. Good luck.

NOW RR i havent sold any of my remingtons or smith&wessons. but if i was in the market for a revolver in 357 now and had to have new it would be a gp 100 no doubt.
taurus has come along way but i can't spend my money on one yet!

as a matter of fact i am going to try and work a trade for a ruger m77 in 30-06 this week. a real good used one with a tang safety the way it should be!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have a Raging Bull, and am acquainted with about five other guys who also have one. These pistols are SUPERB. They are accurate, and their recoil-taming system makes them easier on you than the Ruger or other .454's!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

frizzellr, I agree the Ruger Redhawk in 357 mag is a sweet shooting revolver.I've often wondered why Ruger dropped them from the Redhawk line.I think it was to heavy a gun for most in a 357 mag and probably didn't sell very well. The one I have is a 5 1/2&quot; s/s (not sure if they made the RH 357 blued or not)and only shot a few times if that.I had a 7 1/2&quot; s/s RH in 41 mag and regret selling it now. That was sweet shooting gun too! If you're serious in getting one watch www.gunsamerica.com I've seen them on there several times.

Both are extremely well made guns, I' ve used both in years past and have really enjoyed both (in .44mag of course). My vote will also go to the Ruger, I like the feel much better than the Taurus, maybe it' s just because I' m used to shooting Rugers, but it' s absolutely a better feel for me.

Have you considered a Redhawk? They' re a much better suited hunting gun, I' m assuming this will double for since you' re getting that barrel length. I also think that they recover after recoil much better in their grip design. Just one more thing to consider.

I have had a number of Rugers, both single-action revolvers and rifles. I have always appreciated Ruger quality, except in the Mini-30! I have only owned one Taurus, a Raging Bull. It is superb, but I cannot vouch for their lower-priced stuff!

I have a Taurus 689 in 357 that is a fantastic revolver. I wouldn' t trade it for any other 357 revolver. It has had one of the springs replaced to lighten the trigger.
