22mag, oh what to buy??
hey everyone, i'm looking at getting a new 22mag in bolt or semiauto. can anyone give any suggestions as to brand/model for both? looking for reliability and accuracy, using it for squirrles and general pinkling and want something a bit harder hitting then just a 22lr. any opinions welcome

RE: 22mag, oh what to buy??
I had one years ago. It was a Mossberg 640 K Chuckster. I sold it to my Father in Law and after he passed away, it got lost in the shuffle. I always missed that rifle and a couple weeks ago I was in a gun shop and there set one just like my old one. I grabbed it quick. I don't know what all is available any more in 22 Mag but I think Marlin and Savage make them as does Henery. Ruger might still make one as well. Good luck, they are a dandy rifle when you need just a bit more whack than a 22 LR.

I have a Rem. 597M, and it's been a very good reliable semi auto that is quite accurate... I've had it several years now, and if needed i'd but another as i really like this one...

I have 2 Marlin 22 AMgs and a Marlin 17 HMR and love them all. The triggers are a little on the heavy side but they are all great shooters.

What about a 22 hornet? I'm not sure how it compares to the 22 mag.

I was just down at the local gun shop here in PA and there are 2 identical Marlins in 22 WMR on the used rack. One with a scope and the other bare. Both are stainless with laminated stocks. Makes me wonder why? Didn't they shoot? Other issues? Who knows.

The Ruger 10/22 magnum. The 10/22 is one of the toughest and most popular 22's out there and you won't be disappointed.

ORIGINAL: RugerM77.270 The Ruger 10/22 magnum. The 10/22 is one of the toughest and most popular 22's out there and you won't be disappointed. Ruger took them off the market because they have so many problems... Even "they" are disapointed! DM |
