35-40 yards with a Foster slug (deer). 65 yards (pheasant) w/ a 3" 20-ga, and 1.25 oz. of # 6 shot.

Its interesting how us shotgun zone hunters find ways to get out to 200 yards...technology has made it possible....but us hunters make it successful with our determination and confidence

Man, I tried sighting my shotgun in with slugs and gave up on the idea when I was hitting about a 16 inch group at 75 yards. At 50 yards it was an 8 inch group. Too risky to take a shot on a deer and take the chance of wounding it with that setup. I would love to see some of these 150-200 yard shots with a shotgun though, I know it can be done, but in my experience I have yet to see it.
Anything is possible over the internet, 100 yard shots turn into 300 yard shots on a regular basis.

If your trying to imply that modern shotguns with rifled barrels and Hornady SST's aren't capable of shooting that far your quite misinformed. In fact on the box they say to sight in at 150 yards.

God bless this man....thats why I say what state are they from.. If you're in a all rifle state you may be forced to see what shotguns can do....they are viewed as bird guns to our friends out west...In the midwest we tag white-tails out in plowed dirt at 200 yards...with our range finders of course[:-]

415yds, hornady sst's, was a trophy racoon, I had been practicing at 400yds though, about the distance to my garbage cans than he had been knocking over, no longer!

If you are going to lie, at least make it believable.

Kind of gives new meaning to the age old phrase, "Honey-you forgot to take out the garbage"...Uh, OK, I'll see ya next week...400 yards to your garbage cans??? Must be fun in the rain!!

D

We are shotgun only, I can't remember a shot longer than 80 yards with a slug and I've taken a few with buckshot at around 60. It's kind of like bowhunting with a gun, you learn to be patient and get em close. Or you learn how to track wounded deer.I guess with a break-open scoped slug gun you can reach out there, 200 yards is a long way, and it gets farther way the longer you look at at it...
