I would throw in a heavy vote for a Rugger M77. With a $40 trigger job that is. It's a solid rifle, looks good, they can shoot good. They also come with scope rings and a set mount system right on the rifle. One less thing to worry about going wrong. In a worst case scenario you may have to float the barrel.

This rifle fits in your budget.
