I think where people get into trouble is with screw on chokes.

You can shoot slugs through a gun with a full choke. It is not recomended like i said earlier. You also can shoot slugs through guns with interchangable choke tubes. Follow the same rules i said before and they also make rifled choke tubes for some guns.

I have always been told to NOT do it...So,to be on the safe side
you should ask a gunsmith or check with the manufactor..
No sence in ruining the gun or yourself..Let me know what
you find out..

There are so many different types of slugs and different types of chokes available today... Certain combinations of slug and choke might not be a good idea..

HOWEVER, regular foster type rifled slugs are perfectly safe to fire through any 1940 era full choke, be it a Win M12, an Ithaca 37, a Remington M31 or any other barrel made from around 1912 to whenever with a fixed choke...

Just be sure to use the "old fashion" foster style lead slugs, like Remington Sluggers, or the equivalent from Winchester, Federal, and others...

Most rifled slugs will shoot through a full choke, I wouldn't go any tighter though. The fins are actually there to crush as they go through the choke on a shotgun. They do not impart any spin on the slug as many believe they do.

While you can shoot them I wouldn't suggest it because the full choke will severely deform the slug and I highly doubt it will be very accurate.

I'm not sure I would try it with a gun that old, but I doubt it will hurt anything.

"I would not do it-never shoot slugs through a choke tube...The pressure will sky rocket..."

Really? where did you hear this? People have been shooting foster style slugs out of guns with various choke sizes for decades, that is actually what they are designed for.

As far as shooting a slug through a barrel with a screw in choke, DO NOT shoot a slug or any other shell in these guns without a choke installed! It will say this right in your manual. Always have some sort of choke installed when shooting it. The screw in chokes are actually made from hardened machined steel in most cases and are actually harder than the barrels are. If you shoot it without a choke the metal at the end of the barrel is very thin because it is machined and threaded to except a screw choke. At the very least you would run the risk of messing up the threads if you shot it without a choke installed.
