For North American game,..from feral hogs to Moose to Bear, my answer is always the same.
30-06 by.... whoever. Remington, Savage, Winchester, etc.
Everyone makes a 30-06, and you can always find ammo for it.
Ammo comes in a variety of loads for light shooting to big game.
I was at WallyWorld today and they had a Savage 30-06 for around $360, rifle and scope. Good gun, good price.

Sorry, Ijust reread your post and you stated you wanted to hunt turkey also.
A Shotgun's the way to go for that.
A bunch of options there. I'm not a big shotgun guy, I've had the sameRemington for 23 years now, so maybe someone else can shed some light on that.

New England Firearms... A 12ga pardner or pardner pumpanda handi riflein 30-06.

and then get the handi rifle in a 30-06 for every thing else, and if you can use a rifle to hunt deer in ur state, for about 80-100 with shipping, you can get a fully rifled barrel, which shoots sabot slugs, and you can get rifle accuracy but in a shotgun only hunting zone.

I'd buy some sort of a shotgun for the turkey and a 300 WSM or 300 WM for the big game. I have the Rem 300 saum which is also a good caliberand a good gun but you need to reload for that caliber as ammo is not easy to get and expensive for it.

I would second the TC setup. Gives you tons of options to change to a new caliber for different things. I think that the rifle starts at about 5-600 but ai am not sure. I want to say that new barrels are between 2-300. That is a lot less than buying another gun when you decide that you want something newer or different.
Good Luck
