I like the Zeiss Conquest scopes. They will run you around $400.

wanted to keep it round2-3 bills.but damn i like what ive been reading onthe zeiss!!! but may have to settle for a nikon or leupold.
ive heard the leupolds aint what they useto be so pick up a older used one or go with the nikon. or another bushnell?
then should i stay with the 50mm or is 3-9x40mm good enough?

3-9x 40 is plenty of scope ...YOu can snag a 3-9x 40 Bushnell elite 4200 from www.theopticzone.com or from Ebay for a price in the low 2's..That is a very nice scope. WIll mount lower then that 50mm scope and give you a better cheek weld... You can get a Zeiss in the 375ish range delivered from a number of places 3-9x40 would be perfect as well.

I also have a Belgum BAR 30:06. I have a bushnell elite 3200 in 3-9 x 40 and I am well satisfied with it. I have the same scope on my muzzle loader and it takes the heavy recoil with no problem.
You might want to check the mount screws on your scope base, mine loosened up on me and I had the same problem you are now having.

I'm with oldelkhunter on this one. Bushnell Elite 4200's are very good, the 3200's ain't half bad. The Conquests are darn nice too. Don't forget Nikon (Monarchs and Buckmasters)... they will do the trick. Another sleeper is Sightron. The Big Sky seriers are very good (although more expensive) and the SII's are comparable to the Elite 3200's. Burris Fullfield II's are decent and Weaver Grand Slam's will work. See, you've got lots-o-choices.

You may very well need a new scope, but before you get one check the bases and rings. I bought a Tikka T-3 and used the factory Tikka rings to mount my Nikon Monarch 3-9x40. I couldn't get it zeroed for anything. Knew it wasn't the scope. Ended up that the scope was sliding in the rings. I switched to Leupold rings and bases and haven't had a problem since.

hey swamp you got a deal!! i looked at the trijicon at a dealer near me, but he was way to high priced for my budget!!
wife said if i wait till next xmass she'll pitch in a bill or 2 but i dont think i can wait for her. im just gonna have to sell some of my stuff!!! think im leaning to the ziuss or the trijicon as its my favorite gun and in real good shape. an oldtimer buddy of mine told me get a scope that is worth the same or more than the gun and i will never have to go though this again!!! the gun is worth more than a couple/few bills to me!!
