Default Need Opinion on Berreta 92 FS

I have the opportunity to buy a Berreta 92 FS 9mm for $275.00 or a S&W Sigma 9mm for $250.00. I would like your opinion on which I should choose. The Berreta list new for around $600.00 and I believe the Sigma is around $350.00. This will be my first semi-auto handgun and my third overall. Both of these are in my price range right now. Thanks in advance.[/align]

I have had my 92FS since 1991, and it probably the smoothest handgun out there. I have well over 5000 shots thru it and never a problem.

The Berreta is one of the best 9's I've ever owned. It will have a much better resale value than th S&W. However, I own th S&W, and use it as my main carry gun. You will never shoot tight groups with it because it has a 8 pound trigger. But with no safety, 16 in the clip and 1 in the chamber it makes a very effective and easy to use semi for someone who doesn't shoot handguns a lot. If your looking for a shooter, go with the Berreta, If your looking for a good carry, and you don't shoot that much, go with the Smith.

i'VE HAD BOTH, TOO . The Beretta is much heavier, but very accurate and has swallowed nearly 4,000 rounds with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. Good ammo, Bad ammo JUNK ammo, never a hiccup!

the sigma was very light, but, as said, not a 'tack driver' thanks to its unique trigger.

after aLOT of shooting, the FS is the one with the permanent home at my house!

92FS all the way. It's a proven design and as others have said, it's very smooth.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I figured it was a no brainer. Looks like I will be the proud owner of a Beretta.
