50 cal bmg
i have always wonted a 50 cal bmg semi auto perfered
do any of you have one shot one
do you like them
would you buy one and what does a good 50 cal bmg semi auto cost and are they jst a long gun or is it differnt if you go to buy one

Ive shot a few. One was privately owned and 6 others that were military. I only shot 1 semi aut one and it did reduce recoil but the others seemed to be more accurate. I wanted one until i shot it. I have no use for a gun that big. I was going to just shoot targets at 1000 yards with it but its jsut too much. The recoil isnt that bad. The muzzle blast makes you skip a heartbeat and loose your breath when you shoot it. I decided to get a 338 Laupua instead of the 50 BMG.

It is a long gun. A semi will cost you almost triple what a single shot would cost. I own one and love the heck out of it, but it is too big for hunting purposes even though I have taken it coyote hunting once, and plan to again.

I've shot both the Barret M82 Semi-auto and a bolt action single shot (not sure of the make, but the action was basically a heavy steel tube with an ejection port, bolt and pistol grip/trigger. No stock. The Barret felt like shooting a 12 gauge with 2 3/4" heavy field loads and the bolt action felt like my 300WSM, only with a longer impulse so it wasn't quite as sharp. The muzzlebrakes they put on the .50BMG rifles are very effective, and the rifles weight 25lbs minimum which helps a lot. The only major concern is the EXTREME noise. I use the best earmuff style hearing protection I could find, rated at 35dB, and the noise the shooter hears is still quite loud but not enough to make my ears ring. The noise standing off to the side of the rifle, even 20ft away was even worse. Also, you can feel the blast wave from the break hit you. It's really intense. They are fun though. But at $5 a shot for SURPLUS 50BMG these days, and over $3/shot for handloads, it's too rich for my blood.

ya 5 bucks for ammo plus the 500 grand plus price it is alittle low on my list maybe i will win the lotto
