I emailed Mossberg last week when I was looking at what shotgun to buy

They finaly sent me a reply yesterday the guy aid you can shoot sabot as well as Thank sabot slugs, you can used 00buckshot , field loads, or heavy magnum loads

I was told my the walmart sales guy the gander mountain sales guy an most of you said you could only use sabots in a rifled barrel whats up does the Mossberg guy not know what he is talking about or are most of us wrong

Yea you CAN use any other loads you want in a rifled slug barrel except for steel shot. As for how well it patterns with the shot. I tryed buckshot in my Mossberg 835 and im getting about a 20in pattern at 10 yards. I use it for home defense with turkey loads now.
