My favorite is a custom built on a stainless 700 action in 7mmstw.I hunt my deer in and along fields and shots can be long.A rifle like this is a big advantage for this type of hunting.

My favorite deer gun is the one I have now, a Savage 110 30-06, 165 grain core lokts. It is the first rifle that I payed for, so that adds another reason why it is my favorite.

My favorite is fast becoming my 25-06 with a hundred grain bullet .Does the job and don't ruin a lot of meat .

Portage-I know a lot of us up here like the 35 Rem for deer. I used to own a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem but ended up getting rid of it. It isw as you say very well suited for the area but I am just more comfortable and confident with my 45-70.
Growing up I used my Dad's old Rem Model#8 35. That was pretty heavy (which I liked at the time) but I never did take a deer with it as a kid.
I don't think the 35 is thought quite as highly of outside of New England. Not really sure why. I get the impression most hunting out west and other areas tend to be at greater ranges so that may be the reason.

well i would have to say my remington model 700 adl in .308 caliber with a leupold vari-xII 3x9x50 with federal premium 180 grain nosler partition

I just today picked up my 7600 in 308. Ordered it on Monday. I like the satin finish but have only held it for about 5 minutes.

Ridge Runner hit the nail on the head, the best rifle is one you can use effectively and have confidence in. I have a mauser that Ive had for 38 years, it wouldnt bring $500 on the used rack, but I wouldnt take ten thousand for it. Right now its wearing a Shilen stainless barrel and a curly maple stock with a 3.5x10 leupold. Deer tremble when that rifle comes out of the truck.LOL
