Lucky,a great shot,or B.S.?

Below is a post from a thread on Weatherby rifles. Is this guy just lucky to have three factory rifles that consistently shoot sub 1/2" groups at 200 yards,is he some accuracy magician,or is his claim B.S.?

I have a 243 ULW, a 7mm-08 SPM, and 338-06 SBGM All of them are pretty much the same thing.

I don't get it when people say they don't shoot well. My 7mm-08 will no joke consistently put 140BT's inside .50 at 200yrds sometimes better. The 338-06 and 243 are right there with it.
His response to someones post about custom rifles that shoot better for the same price..

Will that custom your having built cheaper than $1000 shoot inside a half inch at 200yrds? All of mine do, bone stock factory with handloads though, although never shot factory ammo in them.

I'm careful to call BS on someone's claim to extreme accuracy. I know that modern rifles and handloading can make a HUGE difference in accuracy.

I've not seen that type of accuracy from larger calibers like 7mm-08 or 338-06 however I've never loaded for those calibers either. I've loaded for several larger calibers30-06, 7mm mag, 280, etc etc. but have not been able to attain that type of accuracy. I've been able to make those calibers touch holes at 100 yrds, but that's a far cry from being inside 1/2" at 200. To be inside 1/2" at 200 you pretty much gotta put them all in the same hole at 100.

But I can't say that this particular individual is full of it. He may actually have done it.

That being said I would love to see that type of accuracy in person, rather than over the internet ;)

I have seen legitimate 1/2" groups at 200 yards with a factory rifle. However, the poster used the word "consistently".I have yet to see a person that owns three factory rifles that can "consistently shoot 1/2" groups at 200 yards.

I have too, with small caliber rifles like 22-250 or 220 swift or something like that. My point was i'venever seen itwith the larger bores....

By the way...a 1/2" group can be covered with a dime....that's pretty stout at 100 yrds much less at 200.

I know very few people that can shoot half inch groups at 200 yards, let alone the rifle being able to do it. That is VERY good shooting and there are a ton of variables that play into the shot at 200 yards.

I don't know all that many people that can shoot that good at 100 yards consistently.

Maybe he can, maybe he can't. Being that it's the internet we will never know. I'm not a gambling man, but I would bet the guy 20 bucks he couldn't do it with me standing there watching him. I don't mean once, I mean 3 out of 5 groups at least.

I'll be the first tovote a straight-upB.S. when the word 'consistently' is put in there.

My BS-o-meter is pegged out just reading the claim. I have a couple of rifles that will do under an inch consistently at 100, but I don't own a gun that will even get close at 200.
