Were any of you involved in lobbying efforts or working towards getting rifles chambered in pistol cartridges ok'd for deer hunting? I wish we could get similar rule here in Michigan. Wondering if any of you knew how the rule change came about.

Many, manyyears has went intotrying to convince them. It did not happen overnight by no means. We have had the up hill struggles with pistols as well, but they were ahead of the rifles a few years. Heck this is the first time it has been legal to carry a side arm while bow hunting for personal protection in Indiana as well! One tooth at a time is my best advice. Don't try to get all you want or need the first pull. Take small victorys at a time.
I will say that the new in-lines muzzleloaders and the sabot slugs in the cantilevered scope mount barrels and their ballistics has had a fair contribution to the down range argument for hand gun rifle cartridges. Honestly they are better performers than some of the rifles cartridges we are allowed to use now. However, it is way cool to take a deer with a pistol and or a lever action rifle(41 mag my perference). Hope this helps give you alittle background. Feel free to e-mail with anyother questions you may have. [email protected]
