RE: Flushing an action with carb cleaner?
I learned that the hard way with an old Browning A-5 handed down to me from my Grandfather, a gunsmith. I wanted to remove the buttstock but not knowing what i was doing I instead released a screw on the underside of the trigger group behing the trigger guard. Turns out it held a spring....long story short, I should have taken it in for an opinion and advice first.
But I ended up parying for a dissassembly and check-up and cleaning. It was money well spent. |
RE: Flushing an action with carb cleaner?
The only thing with using carb cleaner is that you have to careful around plastic or nylon parts as it will dissolve or melt them. It can also be harmful to some stock finishes. I use all the time on my AR-15s, even soak my bolt carrier and bolt in it. Just remember to relube parts or components afterwards.
