I like them. If I could turn time back a bit, I would have got one instead of the 300RUM. With the long cases of the RUM, Weatherby, and Win Mag, it can make it difficult to make an accurate load. And to be honest, it would have suited my hunting perposes better than a 300RUM. As far as technology, the shorter fatter version is more efficent at making energy than a long column of powder. Just makes sense, to have a beltless, fatter magnum for those who don't have to have the speed of a Weatherby, RUM, but can still chuck a big peice of lead/copper 500 yards with some good energy numbers.

I have a 300WSM in a Browning A Bolt and I love it. Shoots great, out of the box.

The new wsm is no doubt something to "look" into, but they arent that good. A reloader for your current cartridge will make them way better than any WSM can. They are a bit overrated too.....IMO

I doubt a reloading expert will make a .270 Win *safely* achieve 3250 fps with 130 grain bullets, however... :-)

Wow, that's news to me. I guess all I have to do is search out someone to reload my 30-30 and he can make it way better than any 300 wsm.
