I have had a problem with the last three Remington 870's I have bought. The shells are getting stuck in the chamber after the shot and I have to bang the butt of the gun on the ground to extract them. All I shoot is factory Ammo. Anyone know whats going on? Thanks for your response.

Factory 2-3/4", 3", or 3-1/2"? What's your chamber length? New or used guns?

I have never heard of that before. And if this is happening with three different 870's, I am saying bad ammo. The 870 is only the most reliable shotgun ever built.

I had the same problem with my 870 last summer while at the trap range. I was using Estate target loads and they would not eject after being fired. The metal ring was expanding in the the chamber and jamming. I switched to Winchester AA's that have a brass ring and have not had a jam since. I also improved my target scores after using the AA's.

I'd try a different brand of shells. Also, make sure you're using shells that are no longer than the chamber of the shotgun. The length of the chamber is stamped on the barrel.

If another brand of shells that are definately the right length for the shotgun do the same thing, you may have a bad extractor. A gunsmith could tell you for sure. However, this is not my first impression given that it's happened with three different shotguns, so I'd suspect it's an ammo problem. Also, make sure your chamber is clean. A dirty chamber can cause extraction problems.

I've never had a problem with 870's. They have always been completely reliable in my experience.

It's the 2 3/4" - 3" model. I always use factory ammo and it does it with duck loads and dove loads. I have a hunting buddy that has a 3 1/2" modal and It does the same thing. They are both Express models.

I have heard of this before with absolutely, 100%brand new, straight out of the box, 870 Express's. Remington sometimes leaves a bunch of gunk in the barrel after test firing it at the factory.

Simple solution: Use CLP "Break Free" and a bore brush and scrub the $*&# out of it. Then follow with some patches and finally a tiny dab of gun oil.

99.999999% of 870's are trouble free and are the #1 most reliable, most popular, shotgun in the world.

I had the same problem with my former 870. I had to take it apart and clean the crap out of it. I bought it used, but it was clean. I used all different kinds of ammo in it and it stil did it. I finally just cleaned it really well, and that almost fixed it. It still did it occasionally, but not as bad as it was.

No... I have an 870 and love it to death. I have never ever had any problems with mine and I have had it for 4 years now. Did you buy it new or used and what size shells are you using?

Guns were brand new from Wal-Mart. Shells were 2 3/4 and 3". This will be the last Remington shotgun I will ever buy. The quality just is not there anymore. It's ashame.They were bullet proof at one time.
