Either will be great for what you have mentioned. Just pick what you really want.

Both are perfect in whatever version you choose. I'd go with a 7mm WSM or SAUM just for the reduced recoil.

i would go with whatever you like. both are simular as far as trajectory etc.just the 7mm mag might be a little flatter.

Either. I faced the same situation. I opted for the 7 rem Mag, it did all i wanted, I have shoulder problems so heavy recoil was not an option, the actual gun fit me better and if you care ammo is cheaper(for me that was the bonus, not consideration). I am tickled with my 7 mm, I can handle a long range session with it and very nice shooter. It has put down 2 animals and one was a very large bodied buck, that didn't take a step.

Now to be perfectly honest if I had no shoulder problems, I may not have even considered the 7 Mag. Just cause I own a 270 and was thinking I need a 30 Cal. I never went to the new short mags, I didn't like the bullet or gun selection available at this time. I say if your going to go mag. then stick with the standards...just mho.

I was faced with the same decision and went with the 7mm mag just because i liked it better. Just which ever fits you best and which one you like better. they will prolly both do the same things, but a .300 mag might give you a little more variability in bullet wieghts as well as let you hunt as big of game as you want.

If you look at the ballistics a 7mm STW is the best out of the to (7mm and 300). Shoots flatter and farther!
