RE: 25-06 performance ?

ORIGINAL: longbeardbuster

I was looking at a Remington 700 BDL in 25-06 and was wondering if anyone had any experience using them on for deer and how are they on
accuracy and does it have enough knock down power?
The .25/'06 is a .257 Roberts on steroids, or a slightly toned-down .257 Weatherby Magnum. Will it kill deer? Well, I recon! As for accuracy, it is right in there with the most accurate cartridges around. With a 120-grain bullet, it will do anything the .270 Winchester will do using 130-grain bullets.

In the Ruger No. 1V .25/'06 I used to have, one of the most accurate loads I developped used Norma MRP powder and shot a 117-grain Sierra Gameking at 3180 FPS @ 10' from the muzzle-very close to 3200 FPS. In addition to being very accurate, this load did NOT damage brass at all. But since it was "slightly" over what the book said was a maximum load, I cut it back a little. Talk about killing deer-they usually disappeared from view before I could recover the rifle from its' (slight) recoil-the deer always went straight DOWN where they were standing!

25-06 accurate ? Yes very accurate indeed…. This is a photo of my latest load in my Sako 75 with 100 gr. Nosler Bt. 4 shots at 100 metres ( 110 yards or so).
I really like my 25-06 !
