If it's for long range surgical strikes on groundhawgs, try a 6mm PPC. It set the standard for smallbore benchrest shooting. 80gr bullet @ 3100fps+ would ruffle their fur!

:D i want it as a cyote/cougar/antelop gun. I've seen to much pelt damage w/ a .243 and not always enough knock down with the 22-250 so im wondering if their is a better round for these purposes

That brings us back to what I said earlier. .257 Roberts. Perfect for what you're looking for.

what bullets have you been using ?
A .243 is perfect for what your asking, you need to try different ammo, if you dont want pelt damge on a yote try the remington 75 gr in the accutip V. Will explode and probably wont get an exit, now when your after antelop use any 100 gr bullet, I like the federal 100 sierra gamekings or hornady 100 gr factory ammo

A .243 should be perfect for what you are inquiring about. Use a light bullet with a ballistic tip for yotesand it should not exit, but have plenty of knock down power. Try a heavier bonded bullet for bigger game.

Mix the bullets around a bit in this caliber and there isn't much on this continent that it can't handle.

You have the gun you just need to find a less explosive.

I would suggest better bullet, such as barnes.

I would suggest shooting fur animals in the head.

It should be noted that a 22-250 and 243 are not that much different in power.

It should be noted that a 22-250 and 243 are not that much different in power.
At the muzzle, the .243 is roughly 20% more potent than the .22-250, and the difference increases downrange.

On the charts below, the first line is the .22-250, 55 gr., the second is .243, 100 gr., and the third is .243, 80 gr. All Remington Express green box loads...

I don't know if it is loaded but look into the barnes varmint grenade in 22-250. If I understand correctly it should greatly reduce pelt damage
