I never liked the old ones so I wouldn't pay more fpr one now. However if someone builds the 94 again, I would be interested.

If they work as good a they look, I'll buy. You could write Mickey Mouse on it, and I'll buy it. FN makes some good stuff. But I won't buy if the are just pimping the model number and name.

ORIGINAL: The Rifleman

Take a used car, give it a paint job and try to sell it for 3 times what it is worth. That is what this company is trying to do.

Winchester is NOT back in buisness, what has happened is that another company has bought the patent and is going to manufacture the Model 70 Type rifle.

A 1955 Chevrolet cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000 new.

I could buy the patent for the dies and the design and manufacture a brand new 1955 Chevrolet. But with a price tag of $150,000 - I do not think that there would be many people that would be willing to shell out that kind of money to buy one.

I would not be called Chevrolet, I would not be allowed to call myself Chevrolet. But I could manufacture their style of automobile. I could buy the name Chevrolet, but I still wouldn't be the origional Chevrolet.

Invest you money in worthwhile ventures and not fly by night companies.
What is going to be important here is HOW WELL THEY MAKE THEM. That alone will determine whether they are worth the asking price or not. And all buyers need to realize they arebuying a rifle to hunt and shoot with, NOT a Winchester collector's item!

If I thought that the rifles would be made by B.C. Miroku in Japan, I would rest assured that the quality will BE HIGHER THAN IN THE ORIGINALS! I have owned enough Mirokus to know this!

If Miroku ever builds them I would sell every other make I have and buy just 70's

I have never been a M70 fan, but I just bought a 1965 model 270 WCF topped with a Weaver K4 (El Paso mfg.) out of the estate of a friend. The main reason that I bought it was sentimental, but I shot it today and am VERY impressed with the accuracy (1 1/4" at 100 yards and 3/4" at 50). Would I pay a grand for it? Heck no! For $300-400 more, I can get another Sauer 202.

Here is three on Gunbroker that can be had for around $1400.

I have bought 2 and traded for another in the $1200-1450 in the last 3 months. There are "deals" to be had if you are patient and look for them.

As for what is so great about them, the smoothness of the bolt, their fit and finish, and their accuracy just to name a few. I like German rifles, and if you don't that is fine. To each his own.
