Guys,
I have had the same Shotgun for over 20 years, And iam looking for a new slug Gun. I think iam going to look at some of the 20 gauges, Got to have a riffled barrel, be able to mount a scope on it, Do you think the Cantaliver barrels are the best? What are some you would buy if give a choice? Iam not going to spend a ton of Money, but want something that will last also. My Mother and Father bought me a Mossberg 500 with a smooth bore barrel some 20 years ago and have taken alot of deer with it, and will probably just have it redone(myself),But it has always had open sights, and tried to mount a scope on it last year, with a B square saddle but never could get the scope to work right(Bushnell), Iam just trying to get some ideas Thanks for your help.

I would look at the 500's they have at Dicks Sporting Goods. Ithas the bird barrel and a cantalever with a scope for $250. My brother-in-law bought one a couple weeks ago and took a doe and a 8-pointer at 120yards. If I had spare money, I would be getting it.

I have 4 guns I can hunt deer with. A muzzleloader, a 1187, a 870, and a Mossberg 500. Both the Mossberg and the 1187 have cantilever mounts. I don't think you can get a better style of mount available. "If" Iwas was in the market for a dedicated slug gun in 20 gauge with a cantilever mountI'd look real hard at the H&R Ultra Hunter. Although it's single shot and in my mind ugly as hell, it's got a heavy barrel and from what I read it just throws slugs great.
