Guys, you are quibbling over very little here if we are talking about deer sized animals. I had a hard time figuring out what you were all talking about here as there are many many 7mm cartridges. Usually 7mm means 7mm Mauser and in that case there really is no discussion as these 2 calibers are essentially equal.
However, El"d" brought this to light and IMHO, the 270 can't come close to the 7MM Rem Mag for Elk/Moose sized animals that weighs triple a WTD. The 7mag simply has the terminal foot pounds of energy that a huge animals require for a clean kill. The 270 for deer.......the 7MM Rem Mag for bigger or both.
IMHO the 7Mag has not lost it's luster to the new Short Magnums as the 7Mag is the leader in ammo sales for this catagory year after year for a reason. IMHO, the 7 Mag and the '06 are the kings of the hill. Regards, Rick.

When I ground away the entire cross section, the jackets looked identical. As to the alloys and hardness,I can't say,but I can tell you that the ballistic point did not shed it's core even though it is not bonded. And according to Nosler, the difference between the two is that the accubond has a bonded core. They mentioned nothing about alloys or hardness.
I've had numerousBT bullets come apart and shed their jackets... Mostly in 165's fired out of a 30-06 on caribou and deer. They still penetrated fairly well, but none the less, it did happen often.
I haven't used any accubonds, as i find guilding metal doesn't make the best jacket material for "bonded" bullets, at least not when when hitting the heavy bones in big animials. That doesn't mean they are junk, it just means they are not "my" preference for what i'd use a bonded bullet for...

I am looking into hunting deer, antelope and elk at this time.

I have used both for up to moosebut without hesitation for larger then deer the 7mm rem mag is the better choice.7mm rem mag is still my current CF choice whenhunting lopers to moose here in Saskatchewan.
I have never experienced an NBT blow up in countless harvests, 150gr continues to be my bullet of choice in the 7mm rem mag for lope, wt and mulie's. When hunting elk and moose I switch to a more robust bullet, which currently is the Barnes TSX - 5 and counting so far with this combo.

Guys,
I bought a 7MMmag this past off season. I've been sighting in the Remington Coreloks with very good success up until now. Are you saying that at close range, say under 50 yards, that these bullets will basically disintigrate after very little penetration on a whitetail?
If so, I need to start sighting in some new ammo

If you are hunting deer, I'd use a 139 gr.
