It's all really simple actually.........
Yep, for new reloaders, they call it fancy things like OCW, but older ones call it load development[:-].

What people will find on those finicky rifles is they won't be able to find a dynamic load. Or they will lose thier groups on a differnet lot of powder. Or can't find thier little clover leafs after a few hundred rounds, or weather changes.

Fix the rifle correctly and don't worry about ladder load develpment and other hokey things.
Hokey?

I'm kinda at a loss as to what exactly you are trying to argue with. Once the physics of trying to drive a projectile down a barrel with burning gas is understood, and, a solid knowledge of ifs/thens/pros/consisengrained in the handloader's head...it is simple.

Hell, I evenagreed Melvin knows his stuff.....

Which by default is me saying the mechanics of therifle is just as important as the load development. But, it do twist some folks in a knot to hear that a plain oldfactory rig can sometimes shoot as goodas their high dollar custom.........with right attention to detail.

On "finicky"rifles, it's my firmbelief that a lot of 'emwouldn't be all that "finicky" if the nut behind the trigger was just a little less nutty. IOW, I've recieved a few, and seen a bunch of others that weren't "worth a darn", "finicky", "don't shoot nuthin' good", but with a little TLC turned out to be quite fine shooters. My son's .243 is one of 'em. The guy said it wouldn't hold a group no matter what he tried to do, I'm glad he didn't knowa thing about reloading/shooting andthunk that 'cause it made the price cheaper.........

And...what exactly is it about finding the optimum charge weight that doesn't jive with your theory of load developmentpractice? I think if you read my posts you would see I covered what you are questioning. Whether you agree or not is your problem.......

Seen lots of guys chase clover leafs and one hole groups only to suffer the loss of a lot of time and effort just to see those itty bitty groups go to hell in a handbasketcome winter. My minimum criteria is MOA that holds and doesn't change POI over the course of the seasons, smaller is better but who can't kill with MOA or even2MOA for that matter......

Seen lots of guys too, drive themselves crazy with numerous bullets weights in a single rifle trying tocompile loads for numerous purposes. The resulting range time for development and/orsight-in, is impressive to say the least.

I'm more of a one rifle/one bullet weight/KISS/ain't messin' with no gimmic either/stick a fork in it.....kinda guy.

Sounds like he isn't the only one that didn't know a thing about reloading or shooting

i'll tell ya what it is. you join our group, still a rookie at least in this group, and try to act like you know more than those of us who have been shooting/hunting/and gunsmithing our whole life and think YOU can belittle US???
The difference is we are polite to each other even when we don't agree, that way we ALL can learn from each other.
