Default .300 vs 7mm rem mag

I've been hearing that a 300 has less "bite" then a 7mm rem mag. I dont know if this is true and I'm not a fan of recoil. What I'm asking is pound for pound same loads and all that does a 7mm rem mag compare more closely with a 300 more or a 30-06?

Comparing 150 grain bullets in all three makes the 7mm is very close to the 30-06 in velocity. The edge for the 7mm is ballistic coefficient. The bullet will drop less. The 300 win outclasses both.So i would say 30-06.

We have two Remington model 700 LSS rifles. Other than the caliber, these rifles are identical.
One is a .300 win mag. and the other is a 7mm rem. mag. The .300 definately kicks harder.

In rifles that are identical except for caliber the 300 will recoil noticeably more than the 7mm.Using rifles of different weights or stock dimensions will not give fair comparisons as both of these factors significantly effect felt recoil.

I have a Remington Model 700 Sendero SF in a .300 Win Mag. The greatest gun I ever had.

In all honesty its really going to depend on each weapons weight and design. I own 2 identical Ruger M77 MarkII rifles one in .30-06 and the other .300 win mag. The only difference between the two being the 300 mag has 2'' more barrel and feels about 1/2 pound heavier than the -06. I personally feel the .30-06 kicks with a bit more "bite" than my 300 mag does.

stubblejumper is correct again. I have both 7 Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag in Remington 700's.The 7mm weighs about a half pound less with a Brown-Precision fibreglass stock and a lighter scope. The 300 is in a regular BDL and it definetly kicks more than the 7mm Rem Mag.I can't tell the difference in recoil between the 7mm and my 270 Mountain Rifle.

Thanx for the advice its just ive been hearing both sides and I've heard of people saying a 7mm mag kicks like a mule but if its that close to a 30-06 I dont see it kicking too bad.
