A friend of mine loaned me his .270 to hunt with this year and there's no name on it. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I could tell what it is. I can post a pic tomorrow if it would help. It does have a Model 98 down by the bolt but absolutley nothing on the barrel except .270. It's not that big of a deal I was just curious.

Possibly a custom gun. Made from a 98 Mauseraction with various other components. Pictures would help.

Yep, I'd say thats a M98 action and bolt. It is probably a customized Mauser rebarreled for the .270. I had one chambered for 6MM Rem. with a thumbhole stock, sure wish I had it back!
