most accurate single shot?
Single shot rifles are just expected to be accurate. From what I've seen and read, some live up to that standard, and some don't. I'm curious to hear what single shot you consider the most accurate.

go to a benchrest competition in your area and look at what they're shooting.....and I can tell you right now, these guys are shooting bolt action rifles.....and single shot isn't the thing either.....they just choose to shoot them that way...
If you're looking for the pretty falling block single shots to be the accuracy animal in your gun cabinet.....look again.....find a Remington 40-X

In a hunting style rifle,the N.E.F. Handi Rifle,is very good. As to a bolt action,factory rifle,the Savage BVSS-S,is good.
As to Bench Rest guns, these are custom actions and there are a number of makers.[single shot ]
I shoot Bench Rest / Factory class,and use the Savage .<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: most accurate single shot?
I bought an H&R 25.06 Ultra single about two months ago and although i handload i was pressed for time and tried some factory bullets in it and the accuracy was a nightmare. The trigger was way to heavy so i sent it out for a trigger job and just got it back yesterday and also floated the barrel. I hope this helps and i hope to work up a load for it soon and see just how accurate i can make it. I've seen where these rifles can be accurate but also where people have had accuracy problems with them. I don't expect to get the accuracy out of it that i do with my bolt guns but it would be nice if i could. I'm gonna give it one heck of a try.

If you're going to own a single shot, why buy a bolt action?? Get a falling block!!! Ruger No. 1 (in my opinion, it's the most consistently accurate, and very much so, falling block rifle I've ever dealt with, and it's American made).
Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!

NoMercy.....sorry.....can't disagree with you more, the two Ruger #1s
I've dealt with never shot better than 3" at 100 yards and that's with varmint barrels....Every bolt action I've owned did better than that!!!!

All good single shot rifles will shoot as well as a bolt, given the right ammunition. In my experience, however, they tend to be more "picky" about the loads they like.
