Default Fiber Optics help needed!

The Fiber optics on my ramp and front sights has lost their glowing luster; they are actually dull in appearance and have no real light gathering illumination.

Does anyone know how to revitalize them?
Someone mentioned pulling out them out and dipping in Acetone, but I haven’t tried that.

Thanks!

acetone?!!! I think that would actually fog them. Have you tried car wax with a tooth brush?

Truglo sells some amazing sights. Looks like a muzzleloader?

I have no suggestion to help with your problem, instead a question. what do you think caused them to loose their effectiveness, solvents ,abrassives or uv light?
I would like to know so maybe I can avoid having a similar problem. Thanks Glenn

I have no idea what would have done this to the sights; I wash the muzzleloader with mainly soap (Dawn dish liquid) and hot water, sometimes muzzleloader cleaners, in the off-season it stays inside a padded hard case. My hunting buddies all do the same thing and haven’t this problem.
{My muzzleloader is a Winchester and they mostly have Knights, if you’re interested}.
There is no name on my sights, but I think they are Durabrights by CVA.
I never use any abrasives on the gun, just cleaning brush on the inside of the barrel, but nothing else.
The fiber optics look like they have a “dull film” over them, especially the front sight, almost looks like peeling skin to be honest.

LOL! Thats an easy fix! CVA/winchester and the durabright sights have a life time warranty. Just call cva, tell them the problem and they'll send you new sights free of charge.

Apex or x-150?

Not really much you can do with it. Reason its dull and not bright is cleaning agents and other things have ate pits in it, effecting the index of refraction to the air. In other words, it doesn't draw in light.

Also, its not really fiber optics or silica that has been drawn like real fiber optics. Its plastic, where they put a coating on it that will draw light better. They are dog cheap, just buy a new one.
