Hello!
I need some help: I have a Marlin 1895GS and I want to buy a scope for it. I was looking at the Leupold and Nikon scopes, but not sure how to choose one. It will used for deer and elk.
Any suggestions? Other brands? I don't know anything about scopes so please be as specific as possible!!
Thanks

My reccomendation is any of the top quality scopes with very little magnification (2x) mounted low. You won't need more with your rifle/cartridge and a scope of that power will actually be faster on target thaniron sights. I'm sure everybody will chime in on their brand so I won't mention that I like leupold, burris, and weaver.

I think a Weaver K2.5 or K4 would look nice on one of those. Enough magnification to shoot out to 150ish yards, yet still able to get a quick shot off if something gets in close.

I had a 1895GS for a while, and I put a Leupold VXII 2-7 on it. Then, I got the wild hair and changed it to a "scout" configuration (which I personally was not fond of), but my scout scope was a Leupold FXII 2.5x28.
I ended up trading the scout scope and rail for a 1961 Marlin 39A and the 1895GS for a Beretta 96 INOX pistol.

I put a Leupold VX2 2X7 lightweight scope on mine with QR rings. I have been very happy with it set up that way. I still have the factory iron sights on it but will eventually buy a QR ghost ring for it.
