Default Bullet threw a tree

I went out today and shot my sks for the 1st time about 10 years to make sure I did not need to do any bolt or anything alse mechanical to it. Just scoped it have not bore sighted and did not think i was going to hit the target (I did not) firing 1 winchster 123 softpoint and 9 russion (not wolf) hunting hp, walked up to the target not surprised not to find any holes in it. looked over to a small 6in dia. tree about 6in from the target there was one hole all the way threw. I was only 25 yards away and no bench.

ok I forgot something,, Should of I USED that hole the bore sight the rifle since it was only foot from the center of target and only 2 in up and being the only hole I could find?

if I remember this the first time I would not have had someone make me fell like an idiot.

If you are on a bench where the rifle is extremely to prevent ANY movement, all you have to do is fire shot, adjust crosshairs to first shot placement, and you will be exactly sighted in. Always fire a second shot to reaffirm and check adjustment.
